Ideas to Policy

A writing group for thinking clearly about AI policy, and getting good ideas in front of the people who make it.

Good policy starts with good ideas, and good ideas start with clear thinking. Ideas to Policy is a weekly writing group where members learn how to think about AI policy, write about it, and communicate their ideas well enough to reach government.

What we do

• Think: Each meeting, we dig into questions that matter in AI policy, and into how ideas actually make their way into government.
• Write: The last 15–20 minutes of every meeting are reserved for writing something of your own. The best way to learn to write is to write.
• Publish: By the end of the quarter, the goal is a piece polished enough to publish on our blog or on LessWrong.
• Present: Once a month, the group shares its progress at our general meeting.

Who it’s for

Everybody. If you have opinions about AI, you have something to write about.

Commitment

• Quarter-long, wrapping up with a finished piece of writing
• No work outside of meetings; all the writing happens in the room
• One meeting a week, 1–2 hours
• Meeting day and time TBD
